Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Runners organised the Outdoor Kids Summer Camp Graduation Ceremony 2024 at State Forest Academy at Dulapally in the city on Sunday morning.
Ch Ganaga Reddy, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Abhijeet Madnurkar, president of Hyderabad Runners Society, were the Chief Guests.
The guests flagged off a 4 km run within the Forest Academy. Kids in different age groups of 11 to 14 years, 8 to 10 years, and 6 to 8 participated in the run separately. At the finish, all the participants were given finisher medals.
Ganga Reddy said, “Physical and mental fitness are very important and must be cultivated from an early age. Health is wealth. And the venue, the Forest Academy, offers a very good environment for outdoor activity.”
Abhijeet Madnurkar said, “Today’s function is the first step toward your fitness journey. Reach--Recreation and Child Health (REACH), which is partnering with this event, is Hyderabad Runners Initiative, which emphasises physical activity at an early age and promotes a healthy lifestyle in children and young adults.”
As many as 1,100 schoolkids participated in the ceremony. These kids were trained for eight weeks from April 15 to June 9 at various apartments, gated communities, and parks under the initiative Outdoor Kids, which is an out-of-school program that introduces running as a form of physical activity in a structured fashion among children.
The free training was extended to a couple of Government School Kids with the support from Kirti Social Initiatives.
